Camilo Condis is a bilingual journalist, producer, and media professional with extensive experience in editorial planning, news production, political and economic coverage, guest booking, and strategic communications. His work has focused particularly on public affairs, politics, economic developments, and issues affecting Latino communities in the United States.
Mr. Condis founded, directed, hosted, and wrote scripts for El Enjambre, an independent current-affairs podcast covering political, economic, civic, and social developments in Cuba. He led editorial planning, story development, scripting, production, and guest booking, securing interviews with academics, policy experts, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, and foreign diplomats. The New York Times called El Enjambre “one of the biggest hits among the scores of new Cuban-made podcasts.”
As a journalist for El Toque, an independent Cuban news outlet, Mr. Condis wrote about Cuba’s private sector and provided analysis of its development, challenges, and economic impact. His knowledge of Cuban affairs has also led him to provide analysis and context to major international news organizations, including the BBC, El País, Reuters, Agence France-Presse (AFP), The Associated Press (AP), and The New York Times.
His journalism experience also includes serving on the editorial board of Espacio Laical, a prominent Cuban Catholic magazine covering political, social, economic, and cultural affairs. In that role, he contributed to editorial planning, reviewed submissions, developed story assignments and angles, and helped shape the magazine’s coverage of major issues affecting Cuban society.
Mr. Condis brings an interdisciplinary background to his journalism. Trained as an Industrial Engineer and holding an MBA, he has extensive experience in economic development, entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and the Cuban private sector. His previous work included leadership and communications roles with organizations and initiatives such as Artecorte, Cuba 8, La Liga en Cuba, and Cuba Emprende, as well as work on major restoration and infrastructure projects in Havana. This experience provides a practical foundation for reporting and analysis at the intersection of politics, economics, business, and communities.
A native Spanish speaker fluent in English, Mr. Condis has developed relationships with academics, government officials, community leaders, entrepreneurs, diplomats, policy experts, and other newsmakers. His work combines editorial judgment, research, source development, interviewing, writing, and an ability to translate complex political and economic developments into clear, accessible narratives for broad audiences.
Mr. Condis is an alumnus of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), Class of 2020. He has also participated in events hosted by the CEO Summit of the Americas, the Association for the Study of the Cuban Economy (ASCE), and the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), experiences that have contributed to his understanding of international affairs, economic policy, and the issues shaping Cuba and the broader Latin American region.
